NEW ALBUM: TRYFE - COPE
We really did it, ya’ll. It’s finally here!
That’s right, my debut album COPE is ready for you to listen to. So many words, so many thoughts, so many emotions…the most important feeling is: DONE! We’re done!
…and just so you know, this is the album I made after Dr. Dre called!!
This album features an Allstar cast of up-and-coming artists (Sir Charles, Krusal, Benji Demps, Nisha, Yak, KD Cutz, & Cally Reed) from the Pacific Northwest aka Seattle. It also includes some of the best talent that the Queen City of Charlotte has to offer (Joe Sig, Nikoleeno & Serenity Skyy). Not to mention, my boy Nakuu; out of Patterson, PA, came through and blessed the album with the high energy song “Work”.
Beginning with “Mistakes”, the album shares with us a story about coming-of-age, and finding out who you are while working to navigate the complexities of “starting over”. Immediately, Joe Sig let’s everyone know that there’s no more room for excuses.
Multi-talented singer/drummer Benji lends his playful singing to the “Pressure”, which encourages everyone to keep going, especially when the going gets tough. Then, my homie Krusal drops a freestyle on the second verse that doubles-down on that sentiment.
On “More”, Nisha lays out the instructions clearly, so there is no confusion as to how to have a good and sober time, haha. Then, one of my favorite people, yAk, tries to express that something ain’t right on “U Don’t Call”.
I was able to get a special appearance on my album from my boy Cally Reed. He tries to console us all on “The Same”, because our fight for peace, balance and happiness is never truly over.
Below is the list of artists featured on the album, in the order that they appear. (Sir Charles is “the voice of healing” on the intro, interlude, and outro).
With production by the some of the biggest names in Seattle, this album is full of rhythm and soul.
There’s a bit of rap, r&b, and soul on this fun project. I hope you will enjoy its play-trough format, inspired by the one and only Prince and his one-track album, Lovesexy, one of the first albums I remember practicing with when I first began playing instruments.
